1. My employer is disregarding the directive to have employees work remotely as much as they can. During the stay at home orders in the Spring I was able to perform my job remotely successfully. Now, despite the MIOSHA rules, we are being told we are expected to do "business as usual" and I'm required to work in person in hospitals, including those with COVID patients. I do not understand what changed between the Spring and now and why we are no longer allowed to work remotely. Our leadership is stating, "the alarming number of positive cases is also due to the massive volume of testing being done, which is a very good thing, but something we did not have in March" as a justification for continuing business as usual rather than taking steps to create remote work policies to get people out of the workplace where they can. 2. I have requested PPE to wear as I am required to visit units with COVID patients, and I have yet to receive this. I requested the PPE on November 5th and told it shipped November 6th, but I still have not received it. My manager did bring me one KN95 which was later discovered to be defective. I'm not sure how many people have struggled getting appropriate PPE. In my department we do not get regular supplies of PPE but instead have to request it. Other departments may be impacted as well. 3. Many of the tasks we are required to perform are education based and require us to bring food which encourages hospital personnel to remove their masks around us. I also question if this work should be done in person currently as there are remote options available which have been utilized in the past. Lastly, I have been told I need to visit ICUs even if there is another GOL staff member present. This seems like an unnecessary risk to have more than one person from our organization visiting at the same time when the job function could be performed by one individual.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-11-17
