As winds whipped through Berkeley Tuesday, trees fell on power lines and across roads and more than 10,000 PG&E customers lost power throughout the eastern areas of the city. There are ongoing outages affecting more than 8,000 customers in the Berkeley Hills, Southside, Elmwood and the Claremont Hills, according to the utility’s outage map. The Claremont Hills outage has affected about 400 since before 7 a.m. No estimated time for power to be restored has yet been announced. Power cut out for more than 6,200 in North Berkeley shortly before noon, with many regaining power by around 1 p.m.
