Major Plexiglass modifications have been made to most of the small 80 SVS Buses. This unproven Plexiglass system opens/closes allowing passengers to enter/exit the bus. When the door is in the closed position, the flimsy Plexiglass is approximately 6 inches from the operator's upper torso, neck and head. If something was to impact the side of the bus, it could possibly (would) break the Plexiglass creating sharp edges, causing major injuries to the operator and maybe passengers. This Plexiglass door has many seams and openings where the COVID virus could enter onto the driver. With the operator being enclosed in this confined space, proper ventilation is not maintained. There is also a Plexiglass shield located above the vault. Reflection from this decreases operator visibility significantly. With this unproven flimsy door in place, it creates an operator area approximately 6x8 foot. Since the bus engine is located in the front, any smoke from the engine would fill up that small space in a short amount of time, possibly resulting in an accident. If the door was not there, more area is available for the smoke to disperse. When the front passenger seat is in the up position, there is approximately 10 feet of ventilated distance between operator and passenger. Plexiglass shields in some of the buses are already cracking where the bolts are located from everyday normal operation.
