There were more than 70,000 customers without power across the Bay State as of 8:40 a.m., according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, though that number dropped below 50,000 around noon. Power outages were widespread across New England as well. In Connecticut, nearly 100,000 people had lost power.
