A large power outage knocked out electricity in East Honolulu on Tuesday morning July 30. The outage started affecting about 2,700 Hawaiian Electric customers and took a turn for the worse, impacting about 20,000 customers. The initial power outage was reported around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, affecting customers from Hawaii Kai to Waimanalo. Then HECO announced about 20,000 East Honolulu customers were without power.
