The combination of heavy snow and wind over the western Kenai Peninsula from back-to-back winter storms has caused numerous power outages. According to Kerrianne Baker with Homer Electric, approximately 1,250 customers were briefly without power Friday evening.

A Homer Electric Association outage Wednesday night that left much of Kenai without power starting around 7:20 p.m

Approximately 2,700 people had their power shut off Wednesday night from what appeared to be an equipment failure at the Marathon substation.
