The combination of heavy snow and wind over the western Kenai Peninsula from back-to-back winter storms has caused numerous power outages. According to Kerrianne Baker with Homer Electric, approximately 1,250 customers were briefly without power Friday evening.

Approximately 2,700 people had their power shut off Wednesday night from what appeared to be an equipment failure at the Marathon substation.
