Tens of thousands of people lost power across the Triangle and parts of central North Carolina on Monday evening. According to the Duke Energy outage map, over 36,000 customers are without power in the Raleigh area, while over 1,000 lost power in Sanford, as of 4:42 a.m. Tuesday In areas of Raleigh and Wake Forest — along with many others — downed trees fell on powerlines, also dragging the wires down, leading to various power outages in the region.
