Over 35,000 Without Power Across Mass., NH Due to Snow and Ice Storm. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency was reporting 7,700 customers without electricity at 8:30 a.m., mostly in the northern part of the state. Over 1,700 customers in Winchendon had no power. Another 750 customers in Ashby were without electricity, where police said trees were blocking roads in some areas. And 800 customers in Winchendon were in the dark as well. Eversource was reporting about 26,000 outages, with the Amherst/Merrimack area particularly hard hit. Unitil is reporting another 70 outages, and New Hampshire Electric Co-op another 3,200 or so customers without electricity. Central Maine Power has 19,000 customers without electricity.

At around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, a power outage began affecting parts Valencia. “There’s a widespread outage due to an equipment problem,” said Southern California Edison. “Initial repairs have been completed.” The utility said service should be back to most customers by 11:30 p.m.

Joy Joy’s Bakery Lakewood, Washington is recalling Ube Spanish Bread, Ube Ensaymada, and Ube Roll because it may contain undeclared wheat.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. No illnesses... See More have been reported to date. The recalled Ube Spanish Bread, Ube Ensaymada, and Ube Roll are sold at Joy Joy’s Bakery in Lakewood, Washington and sold at Fubonn Supermarket in Oregon.

The recalled products are packaged in plastic bags or in plastic clear clamshell containers and labeled with Joy Joy’s Bakery sticker.  There are no lot codes on packages and products were distributed between 1/15/23 and 1/25/23.

The recalled products labels declared flour but it does not specify wheat flour.  This labeling problem came to our attention by from the Oregon Department of Agriculture through the U. S. Food and Drug Administration.

Customers with a wheat allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the affected product are urged not to consume the product and dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.

In case you experienced harm from allergens or undeclared ingredients, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve issues and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
