More than 4,000 customer of the Floresville Electric Light & Power System (FELPS) north of Floresville were without power this morning, and more than 800 in the Falls City area, after severe overnight storms brought heavy rain, hail, high winds, and cloud-to-ground lightning across South Central Texas. The lightning strikes damaged the utility’s Eagle Creek substation, leaving homes and businesses along U.S 181 north of Floresville and nearby areas without power since around 2:30 a.m. Crews were on site assessing the damage. Lightning also took down power lines in multiple locations south of Poth, affecting power in and near Falls City.
