Appalachian Power is reporting that more than 1,200 people in Lynchburg and Amherst County are without power Friday morning due to a single outage. The outage started at 8:37 a.m. There are also five smaller outages within the area covered by the major outage — all of which started between 8:33 and 8:37 a.m. on Friday — impacting at least 161 customers.
