Regulatory Report

232 South Capitol Avenue, Lansing, 48933 Michigan, United States

1. Starting from 12/28/2020-01/06/2021, 6 people have tested positive for COVID on the 3rd floor. 9 employees are currently in quarantine due to possible exposure and 6 people are out due to having symptoms. Starting from the week of 12/21/2020, one employee had symptoms and went around the whole 3rd floor telling everyone that they couldn't taste or smell. This employee was reported to HR, but they did not send the person home because the employee has to have more than one symptom marked down on the attestation form and the loss of taste or smell counts as only one symptom. According to Ingham County website, an employer can make an employee go home if they develop the loss of taste or smell, a fever, shortness of breath or an uncontrollable cough. It doesn't state that it has to be a combination of those, as long as one of those symptoms are present the employee should've been sent home. If BCBSM would let their union employees work from home, this could have been avoided, however employees are being forced to come into the office when non-union employees are working from home.
