There were more than 50,000 power outages in the Charlotte area Monday just before 6 p.m., according to Duke Energy. The power losses were concentrated in Mecklenburg, Iredell, Rowan and Cabarrus counties to include areas in and around Charlotte, Salisbury, Statesville, Hickory, Gastonia and Concord.
