The Department of Transportation want drivers to transport two crewmember and themselves in a approximately seven feet cab of truck to assigned location for eight hour a day. However, according to the CDC recommendations; three to six feet of social distancing is required to mitigate the spread
of the Coronavirus. Hazard Location: Bureau of Electric On August 30, 2021, Executive Order 2021-20 was issued by the governor's office which states all individuals in Illinois who are age two or over and able to medically tolerate a face covering (a mask or cloth face covering) shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a face covering when in an indoor public place. Illinoisans should also consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities that involve close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated. IL OSHA understands that the reference to following CDC guidelines is a recommendation; not a requirement. While IL OSHA cannot directly enforce this executive order, the Illinois Occupational Safety and Health Act requires employers to protect employees from recognized hazards that cause or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to its employees (820 ILCS 219/20(a)). Employers that violate this section of the Act may be cited and/or referred to another regulatory authority.
