There is a boil-water advisory in effect for parts of Vestal NY due to a water main valve rupture.

People who live in the following areas should their water:
2201 to 2601 Glenwood Rd.
Kintner Park
2403 to 2517 State Rt. 26
423 to 491 West Hill Rd.
Sunset Avenue
Coleman Street
Park Avenue
Grand Avenue
Laura Lane
Kathleen Drive
Richards and Tharp streets

Town officials ask residents to boil their water for at least one minute before consuming it to prevent illness. They also ask for people to let the water cool off before they drink the boiled water.

Work is being done to repair the water main valve. The town anticipates the valve will be fixed by Jan. 27. They say the public will be informed when it's safe to drink the water without boiling it.
