Samsung Smart TV Solar & USBC Remote Control Solar Panel Internal Shattering/OverheatingSamsung Smart TV Remote included with Tv model number QN43Q8FAAFXZA. Remote Model Number is VG-TM2560. Remote contains solar and USB-C Charging. Manufacturerd 2025.01.11. Other numbers on the remote include the following: SMJNY1B8504 TM2560E Part Code: BN59- 01480A IC:649E-VGTM2560. FCC ID: A3LVGTM256. Remote is made in Thailand according to the label. I recently purchased a new Samsung Smart TV (2025 Model Number QN43Q8FAAFXZA). I was using the the remote control in my hand when I felt and heard a little pop noise. I flipped it over because it felt like it came from the back of the remote and discovered that inside of the unit the Solar charging panel has shattered in multiple places. The shatter patterns looks almost as if it was improperly placed. Because this device charges via both solar and USBC, the two charging methods are connected internally. This could pose a major safety threat to users in regards to overheating or possibly worse, resulting in fire damage. This is not unlike how solar chargers that use a solar panel on top of the battery pack are dangerous because they can cause overheating due to the placement of the battery and the absorption of light energy which radiates heat as well when making contact with the solar panels. Under the plastic cover beneath which sits the solar panel, there is now discoloration of the panel with a rainbowing effect to it. Remote is still functioning despite this which could result in users being completely unaware of this problem placing them at further risk, especially children and the elderly or disabled. Device also has grip sensors which could malfunction and cause this as well and could further destabilize the product potentially or because of this occurring if someone grips it too hard etc. There is no removable battery to prevent further overheating of the device which means the device remains faulty and continuing to pose a risk to all around it should the lithium ion battery combust internally from the heat caused by charging or normal everyday operation. The remote has not been dropped, it hasn't been placed in direct sunlight or by windows, and has been only in an air conditioned room. It does feel slightly warm to the touch.
