At least 5,000 people are in the dark Wednesday morning after strong winds bringing plummeting temperatures knocked out power to businesses and residents in Metro Detroit. DTE said via its outage map that it is working on a big outage in Hazel Park near Nine Mile and Dequindre meanwhile an equipment problem is to blame for another outage reported near Wayne Road and Ecorse, just north of Metro Airport. A large swath without power was also reported in Shelby Township between 24 Mile Road in the Schoenherr and Hayes Road area.
