A storm knocked out power for thousands in the East Valley on Wednesday night. Initially, over 43,000 SRP and APS customers in Phoenix, Glendale, the East Valley and Gold Canyon are without power but APS and SRP crews worked around the clock restoring service. As of 5 a.m Thursday., just over 3,300 utility customers were without power, an overwhelming majority in the SRP service areas around Mesa. Then the rain came and hit the East Valley hard.
