At 2 p.m. Tuesday, approximately 46,037 customers were still without power in North Carolina, including 1,000 in Fuquay-Varina and a total of 5,509 in Wake County. During an overnight peak, there were more than 80,000 power outages in Wake County. Many people spent the entire night in the dark. Duke Energy, said the storm moved quickly, knocking out power to thousands of people.
