A major power outage left Charlotte without electricity on Friday morning, January 19. Most exit lanes on Independence Boulevard between Charlottetowne Avenue and Briar Creek Road were closed due to power lines down on the road. According to Duke Energy, the downed power lines were a primary line. At least 6,000 customers were affected by this power line damage. Power was restored at 3:15 p.m.
