About 1,500 customers were without electrical service Thursday night in York, Chester, and Lancaster counties in South Carolina as a storm with high wind and rain moved into the area.York Electric Cooperative had more than 1,300 outages as of 7:30 p.m., according to its outage map and utility vice president Marc Howie. The outages were spread around York County from Lake Wylie southeast to Rock Hill and other areas of western York County.
Duke Energy reported less than 100 outages in the three counties. However, there were thousands of outages to the west in Spartanburg and Cherokee counties, and to the north in Mecklenburg and Union counties in North Carolina.
The City of Rock Hill utilities department map showed around 150 outages Thursday night.
