MidAmerican Energy Co. and Alliant Energy were reporting power outages across the western half of Iowa. MidAmerican said 5,012 customers were without power, including 1,804 in Des Moines, 1,401 in Sioux City and 1,292 in Council Bluffs. Alliant said it had reports of 1,121 customers without power, mainly between Kanawha and Britt and between Clear Lake and Mason City.
