When we moved in to this building trash was put in a holding area on each floor, and the building collected it and handled it, using the freight elevator. The building now recently announced they are 'no longer doing this, and residents have to carry it to the basement themselves. Two problems with this, 1) it seems like a safety risk of spillage in the regular elevator, and also riding with other peoples trash 2) it is a bait and switch on building services. We did not pay/move into a building where we have to transport our garbage 10+ floors by hand. There are also elderly and less able people in the building now have to deal with this issue, that they had not signed up for when signing a lease. Poor management.
