Employer does not provide goggles and gloves for employees in charge of admitting patients in the Admitting Department, who are in charge of interviewing the patient during admission and get signatures from them. Patients are not always masked and employees have to be closer than 6 ft. during the admission interview; there have been times when patients sneeze or cough during the admission interview. Employees share pens with patients for signatures. Patients are usually screened and tested for COVID-19 at ED department, but sometimes patients are admitted pending test results, then it is unknown if patient is positive for COVID-19 . Employees are provided with surgical masks. 5199(e). Employer does not provide N95 respirator for EVS workers who have to clean and disinfect rooms of suspected and positive COVID-19 patients after the room is vacated. 5199(e). Employer does not provide N95 respirator for admitting employees who rotate into ICU department and deal with suspected and positive COVID-19 patients. A co-worker, who did not have N95 while rotating at the ICU department got infected with COVID-19. 5199(e) Employees at the Admitting department do not get products to disinfect shared items (computer, desks, phones, chairs) before and after use. Also, The EVS department does not clean the common areas frequently throughout the day. (5199(e) Work stations at the Admitting Department are closer than 6 feet, and since some employees eat lunch at the cubicle and remove the mask for food consumption, other employees could be exposed. Complainant mention there have been at least 4 positive COVID-19 cases among employees during the previous weeks. (5199(c) Employer make employees fell that they will be punished if they miss work for being sick, then employees come to work even if they feel sick for fear of being written-up. 3205Alleged Hazards: 6, Employees Exposed: 1
