1. Employees who have been directly exposed to COVID are permitted to report to work provided the are asymptomatic. In that event, employees are required to isolate from other co-workers but they are still permitted to work on clients. If an employee has been exposed to a person who has tested positive, and the employee is asymptomatic, they are still permitted to come into work while they await test results. The requirements for the employee to remain working are as follows: a) An employee is required to wear extra personal protective equipment (a face mask and face shield are required); b) Spa employees are required to stay in their rooms and they are not permitted to go into break rooms; c) Stylists are required to relocate to a back or side station, stay away from others, are not permitted to use the color area, and are not permitted to go into break room; and d) Nail techs are assigned to 1 pedi or mani station for the entire day and are not permitted into the break room. 2. There are concerns regarding the lack of cleaning and sanitizing. The employer states that the locations are professionally deep cleaned every night, and that throughout the day high touch surfaces are being sanitized. However this is not happening. Most service providers (but not all) are sanitizing their work spaces between clients (even though they have not been given any extra time for this). But, common areas (restrooms, waiting rooms, break rooms, door handles, etc.) are not being sanitized throughout the day. To save money, the nightly professional cleaning crew has been reduced to two nights a week. So, not only are the common areas not getting sanitized regularly, they are now only being cleaned twice a week. These cleaning and sanitizing tasks are supposedly being given to employees but they are not happening, these things are not getting done.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2021-01-11
