Safety Report: Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, Muskegon County Sheriff's Office, 990 Terrace Street, MUSKEGON, MI, 49442, USA

3 years ago business

Regulatory Report

990 Terrace Street, Muskegon, 49442 Michigan, United States

1. This facility is a county jail and deputies have constant contact with over 300 inmates while using minimal personal protective equipment (cloth mask). There have been several inmates who have tested positive for the Coronavirus within the last few weeks. 2. Employees who have been at work with COVID symptoms, including a fever, have not been ordered to go home. Employees who have been exposed and are exhibiting symptoms are required to work until their test results come back (the company that is conducting the analysis is taking up to 7 days to return their results) meaning deputies are still working while exposing others. There are inmates within the jail who have been in jail for longer then the pandemic who are now testing positive which means the only way they could have been exposed is staff, yet the jail is still not locking down the inmates to minimize staff and inmate contact. Prior to the pandemic there was not enough deputies to run the jail at a safe staffing level and now deputies are getting sick daily, which means more are being forced to work when sick. 3. Inmates are not given proper cleaning supplies because there is not enough to go around for daily housing cleaning. There are 12 housing units on a floor and 4 cleaning carts a floor which means cross contamination is happening even when they clean. This jail is continuously cross contaminating the staff and inmates and not taking precautions to keep either safe.
