Major power outage impacting thousands of customers in Beaufort, Hampton, and Jasper counties. Palmetto Electric was reporting a major power outage in the Lowcountry. According to its website, almost 59,000 people woke up in the dark. The company posted Wednesday morning that they're aware of a transmission outage impacting a wide portion of the area. According to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, there was a fire early Wednesday morning at a power substation. Crews are working to restore power.
