Recall notice

Nutrena® Country Feeds® Cracked Corn for livestock recalled due to Excess Aflatoxin Levels, Texas, USA

1 month ago source fda.gov

Texas, United States

Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health is conducting a voluntary recall of a single lot of Nutrena® Country Feeds® Cracked Corn for livestock because it may contain aflatoxin levels that exceed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) action level for immature animals, wildlife, equines, small ruminants, and dairy animals. Livestock exposed to elevated levels of aflatoxin are at risk of several health effects which may include weight loss, reduced weight gain, reduced feed intake, decreased milk or egg production. The recalled product was manufactured and distributed in Texas through retail stores. Impacted product information is described in the table below. The lot code and manufacture date can be found on the bottom right-hand side of the label.

Affected Product:
- Brand: Nutrena – Country Feeds
- Product: Cracked Corn
- Size: 50 lb bag
- Lot Code: 8152552407RG
- Product Code: 95217
- UPC: 722304334765
- Species: Livestock
- Date Made: 09/12/2025

The recall was as a result of sampling conducted by the Office of the Texas State Chemist which revealed that a sample of the product contained aflatoxins at 35 ppb. Cargill's retained product sample of the same lot contained less than 1 ppb aflatoxins. Distribution of the impacted product has ceased as FDA and Cargill continue their investigation as to what caused the problem.

At Cargill, the safety of our products and the well-being of animals we feed is our top priority. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of and in cooperation with the United States Food and Drug Administration.
