FURminator deShedding Ultra Premium Dog Conditioner (1 Gallon) has been pulled from the market due to microbial contamination. The recall involves certain product lot codes. The products may contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacteria found in soil and water. While people with healthy immune systems are usually not affected, those with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, or underlying lung conditions could face a risk of serious infection if exposed to the bacteria. In the United States, the company has received four reports of incidents. The recall is a joint effort with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC), and Spectrum Brands Pet LLC. The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

The company reported that approximately 248 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 90,000 were sold in the United States.

The containers may be sold with or without a pump.
The affected products were sold from January 2022 to April 2024.
The products were sold in clear containers with a black label and off-white liquid conditioner inside.
The container is approximately 12 inches (30.48 centimeters) tall, 6 inches (15.24 centimeters) wide, and weighs about 8.5 lbs (3.86 kilograms).

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled product and return it to the store where they purchased it. They should not pour the product down the toilet or drain. For a refund and additional information, consumers can contact Spectrum Brands Pet LLC.
