Around 12,000 households were without power earlier Monday 4th after two winter storms hit Vermont within a week. The outages were mostly on the eastern side of the state, like Lamoille, Orleans and Essex counties.

According to the Washington Electric Cooperative, around 3,000 of its customers were without power shortly before noon Monday Dec 4th. The cooperative reported the largest outages were in Williamstown, Calais, Worcester, Middlesex, Cabot and Walden. Crews were working to restore power.

Fire department requested a temporary power shutoff from Green Mountain Power. That led to a peak of about 1,450 customers without power in the city at the fire’s outset, according to Green Mountain Power’s outage center.
