Power was out in areas in southwest and northwest Hickory near U.S. 321 as well as in Long View, according to the outage map on Duke Energy’s website. The map listed more than 1,300 customers without power at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Employees are concerned about the employer's COVID-19 policies due to there not being any mask enforcement. The employer is not informing employees of confirmed COVID-19 cases and is not screening patients. There is no signage which indicates the requirement for masks posted.

1. Approximately 90% of the employees are sick with COVID-19. Employees are being directed to continue working while sick, since the restaurant cannot shut down. Employees are being asked to not report their health symptoms to Human Resources. This is exposing the employees that are not currently
sick, along with customers. 2. There is no cleaning/sanitizing being done for the virus. 3. A lot of employees do not wear face masks and the use of the face masks is not being enforced.

1. Employees could be injured due to the jack stands provided not working properly. 2. Where welding is conducted, shields/screens are not provided, so as to protect other employees from sparks, heat, UV light, etc. 3. Employees could be exposed to the COVID-19 virus in the workplace,
due to the use of masks not being enforced; work areas/shared equipment not being sanitized; employees not staying 6 feet apart; chewing-tobacco users spitting tobacco juice on the floor etc.

Four of the 27 employees have had COVID-19 and the employer is not taking the issue seriously. An employee was waiting for test results and was made to come into work and then found out the next day that they were positive for the virus. Other employees
have been exposed due to employees working while being sick.
