Nearly 6,000 people are without power in Herkimer and Oneida counties due to strong winds across the region Wednesday afternoon.

More than 2,800 Oneida County National Grid customers are also without power. More than 150 people lost power in Westmoreland and Rome around 3:40 p.m. and shortly after, power went out for more than 1,300 customers in the Lee Center area up past Point Rock. Just before 4 p.m., more than 1,400 people in the Barneveld and Steuben areas lost power as well.

A passing tractor trailer pulled down utility wires on Cypress Street shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday. Authorities said the nearby Rome Catholic High School was temporarily without power. National Grid responded to the scene to fix the downed wires.

NY is claiming a flattening of the curve. Yesterday my doctors office told me to go to the ER due to my symptoms. I went to the ER and the doctor said he believes I have COVID 19 but he wouldn’t give me a test due to the tests only being 70% accurate. Let’s hope that’s not why. See Less
