High winds began as anticipated about 1 p.m. in the Joplin Region. Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported tractor-trailers blown over, and those storms were coming our way. About 4:45 p.m. p.m. 3,600+ lost power in Missouri and Kansas according to Liberty Utilities online mapping

About 1:45 a.m. a tractor trailer struck a utility pole near 6th and Kentucky. Initially about 100 without power. The pole is about one block north of the 5th and Kentucky sub-station downtown Joplin. This could then effect other areas separate of Joplin downtown.
