Severe storms knock out power for thousands. Over 2,700 in Branch County were without power, along with over 4,100 in St. Joseph County, over 1,500 in Hillsdale County and over 8,200 in Calhoun County.

The planned power outage was scheduled to last at least five hours but crews wound up working nearly 13 hours. Old structures were disconnected and old wire had to be taken down. All of the new wire had to be connected into the grid.
