Complaint: On or about September 10, 2021, a COVID positive patient received an aerosolizing treatment in a room that was not negative airflow. When a nurse brought this up to management, the response was that it was too late and the entire floor had already been compromised. … See More
This exposed 25-30 employees. Findings: The incident that was mentioned during employee interviews involved a patient that was receiving high flow oxygen treatment. According to the OSHA definition of an aerosol generating procedure, high flow oxygen is not considered an aerosol generating procedure. No citation issued. Complaint: On or about October 4, 2021, two COVID rule out patients were placed in the same room even though test results were not yet back. These patients were also allowed to have visitors who were not monitored for appropriate PPE. At least one of those visitors was not wearing a mask in the room. This exposed 10-15 hospital employees to COVID. Findings: The employer had a policy in place that required visitors to wear masks at all times. Visitors were informed of this requirement when they entered the hospital, and the hospital staff attempted to enforce this policy. Visitors had been asked to leave the facility if they did not wear a face covering. No citation issued. Complaint: Over the course of the last few months, multiple employees have contracted COVID at the hospital as a result of lax safety and infection control standards. Findings: No violation of OSHA's 1910.502 Healthcare standard was discovered during the inspection. No citation issued.
