The Northwest Brainerd area was without power late Monday, Oct. 7, after a loud crack or explosion. The power outage affected customers on Tyrol Drive, the Creekside Community, and Westwood Mobile Home Park along with apartment buildings off Jackson Street and off James Street behind Walgreens. Streetlights and business lights were out, including most of the Westgate Mall. According to BPU, electricity came back on to some places in northwest Brainerd at 11:46 p.m. but the outage map indicated neighborhoods still without power as of 8 a.m. Tuesday.Outage link: gis.bpu.org/Integrator/Web/Default.aspx
