Thousands of customers in the Topeka area were without power early Tuesday, Jul 16 after severe thunderstorms rolled through northeast Kansas, knocking down trees and power lines. An outage north of Topeka resulted in some 1,700 Evergy customers being without power as of 7:35 a.m. Tuesday. More than 3,000 customers were reported without power as of 9:00 a.m. Other areas reporting outages included Overland Park, Leavenworth, Manhattan, St. George, Belvue, Rossville, Grantville, Hoyt, Grandview Plaza, Wakefield, and Lawrence. According to Evergy’s outage map, 19,524 customers were without power across eastern Kansas and western Missouri as of 9 a.m.Outage link: www.evergy.com/outages/outage-map
