Thursday, Aug. 29, in a matter of minutes, the Mountain Brook Fire Department received reports of downed powerlines at Sharpsburg Road as well as Crossbill Road where snapped power poles and downed trees were also reported. There were more than 6,000 customers without power as of 10:30 p.m. The following counties had more than 500 households affected by power outages:Dallas - 671
Jefferson - 3,230
