About 3,600 customers in Berks County were without power this morning as a result of heavy thunderstorms that passed through the region Tuesday evening, July 16. PPL Electric Utilities, whose service area includes southwestern Berks, reported about 940 outages, all but about 50 in Wyomissing, as of 8:30 a.m. According to Met-Ed parent FirstEnergy Corp.’s website, some of the biggest outages were as follows:Hereford Township: 667 customers affected.
Washington Township: 110 customers affected.
Reading: 740 customers affected.
Brecknock Township: 284 customers affected.
Pike Township: 110 customers affected.
