According to the Baltimore City Fire Department, units were dispatched to the 300 block of N Charles Street around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Sep 29, where firefighters discovered fire showing from a manhole at the intersection of Charles and Pleasant Street. By 8:30 a.m., the fire was extinguished, and power was turned off to the surrounding area. At noon, BGE announced that nearly 2,200 customers were without power in the area. Crews were assessing the safety of the electrical infrastructure before restoring power service to the area.
