A major fire erupted Friday morning at the JCP&L substation on the 300 block of Main Street, knocking out power to an estimated 30% of Sayreville. At around 11:15 a.m., a blaze of unknown origin had engulfed the substation, located off the Raritan River. Power outages were immediately reported along Lower Main Street, Tangletown, and other neighborhoods. According to the outage map, about 3,952 customers are without power.
