Over 8,300 Hawaiian Electric Co. customers on Hawaii island were without power on Saturday night August 24 as winds and rains from passing Tropical Storm Hone began to impact the island. The affected customers included the Haaheo, Hilo, Honokaa, Kalanianaole, Kau Pahala, Kaumana, Keaau, Keonepoko, Kohala, Mountain View, Paauilo, Pahoa, Waiakeawaena, and Waimea areas.
