A power outage was reported in Sumter on Saturday afternoon, July 28. About 3,000 customers were impacted by a power outage at first. Duke Energy's outage map showed large swaths of customers without power in Sumter and to the north of the city, but no cause was listed. The utility estimated the power would be restored by roughly 8:15 p.m. Another outage occurred later in the afternoon, stretching north from Elliott and impacting nearly 800 customers as far north as Lamar and Cypress Crossroads east of Bishopville. According to Duke Energy, a vehicle damaging utility equipment caused this outage. As of 10:00 p.m., the estimated time for restoration was midnight.Outage link: outagemap.duke-energy.com/
