Officials urged Grosse Pointe residents to remove anything valuable from their home's basement floor after Wednesday's severe thunderstorms knocked out power to the city's pump station. Officials said seven poles are down to one line from Grosse Pointe Court, and the second line is down on Charlevoix Avenue from Lakeland Street to Grosse Pointe Farms. More than 163,000 DTE customers in the metro Detroit area were without power Thursday morning, according to the utility.
