Due to high winds and increased fire risk, NV Energy has imposed a planned power outage Wednesday at four school sites in Carson City. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Carson City and surrounding counties. The utility said there is an increased risk of fire for areas of South Carson City, Genoa, Washoe Valley, Glenbrook at Lake Tahoe, Virginia City Highlands, Galena, southwest Reno, and Verdi. At one point, more than 15,000 customers had their power shut off.
