A power outage was reported in Asheville on Friday morning Apr 12. According to Duke Energy's outage map, more than 1,300 people were without power in Western North Carolina after a night of strong winds. A busy intersection was temporarily closed early Friday morning after downed trees and limbs knocked down power lines. Brevard Road was closed north of Clayton Road, toward the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Bent Creek area, as crews worked to clear the roadway. The road reopened around 6:35 a.m.
