I received a pink plastic envelope in the USPS mail containing only a message. What do scammers do with my info? WHY?

I received the exact same package and note yesterday. The tracking shows it was shipped on August 14th.

Because when people like us call the police about it we are told to throw it away because it isnt worth their time. Of course it is because it isnt one of them that is the victim of identity theft.

I received one today. My biggest fear was possible drug contamination when it was empty. Thought maybe the envelope of message had dangerous residue.

The question is what did we do to trigger it. I made an offer in FB for an item about 5 days ago. It looks like seller accepted it but no address or location shown. So not really sure if thats it.

Im up in williston north dakota and I received one too. It seems stup**d that who ever this is would waste time and money to send these out all over. It makes me wonder what's in it for them.
