The city of West Springfield officials issued a do not drink water advisory. The city is on day two of a water backflow incident, and they are advising residents and businesses in the area to not use or consume any tap water.The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection issued this order on July 23rd and impacted customers in West Springfield. The last 24 hours for West Springfield residents have been an adjustment for some customers in the area of Heywood Avenue as there was a ban on consuming or using any tap water while the DPW Water Division investigates an issue with the drinking water.
The West Springfield Fire Department is offering residents 10 water bottles, as long as they bring proof of residency in the affected area.
