The layout of the workroom floor was recently changed to accommodate a new sorting machine that will be placed in the building. This new arrangement has placed employee work stations closer than 6 feet apart. It is not possible for employees to practice social distancing while working. Employees are wearing face coverings however they cannot keep a safe distance from one another. There is sufficient room in the building to keep employees- work stations spaced further apart and accommodate a safe 6foot distance of work space. There is no set date to bring in the sorting machine yet the work spaces are placed closed together instead of providing sufficient room until the sorting machine is put into place. The large sorting machine will be noisy and possibly cause a hazardous noise environment for staff. Preventive measures have not been considered by management to keep staff safe with the addition of this equipment. A hazard assessment plan has not been devised to eliminate any possible risk to employees. Approximately 50 employees may be impacted by this decision.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2021-02-01
