The employer did not maintain an effective injury and illness prevention program in that the employer did not ensure that COVID-19 precautions per the state executive and local public health department orders are being followed at the workplace in the following instances: Description of complaint: The complainant works for Kaiser Antioch in the PACU department as a patient care tech. Her duties include getting patients from the waiting room in to pre-op, getting them dressed and having them switch into Kaiser supplied PPE. The EE states that patients are making it into outpatient surgery without first knowing the status of the patient. On 2/10/21 alone the EE stated that she was exposed to two positive COVID-19 case who she had taken care of pre/post op. On 2/11/21 the EE found out that these patient were positive for COVID-19 through word of mouth. When the EE confronted her supervisor the supervisor stated that they don't have enough time to tell you every little thing. 1.The employer did not ensure to implement and maintain an effective procedure for screening incoming patients. Ref T8CCR 5199(c)(3)(3). 2.The employer did not develop, implement and maintain an effective procedure to ensure employees are notified of their exposure to a COVID-19 case during the course of their duties. Ref T8CCR 5199(d)(2)(K).
